by GoodUp Info

Yes, 2018 is really here! We hope you enjoyed your holidays and had a change to think about the upcoming year. This year, companies will be doing good, bétter, in line with their purpose. Not doing any good is simply not an option anymore.

New Year’s Purpose Resolutions

‘Doing Good’ can sound as a very big and broad task. It is so big that you might decide to put it off or not think about it. But that doesn’t get us anywhere, you know that as well. So, to help out, we’ve created some New Year’s Purpose Resolutions that might help you take some steps. Onwards to a very inspiring 2018! Let this Do Good New Year’s resolutions be your guide!

1. Define your Purpose

That can be a hard job. The good news is, you don’t have to do it alone. Your employees and your customers already have tons of valuable data on what difference in the world you can make best. You can start by having a co-creation session with both groups to find out what they feel that your company’s purpose should be. For more pointers, have a look at this blog.

2. Turn your Purpose into Action

Once you’ve defined your purpose, it is time for some action. You can do so by again by actively engaging your employees and/or your customers. The execution of the roadmap towards your purpose consists of many smaller projects and steps (some of them you haven’t even thought of yet). It requires all hands on deck (here’s what Transavia and Tommy Hilfiger say about this).

3. Measure and Report on your Progress

Doing projects is great. And fun. But to really make an impact and take projects to the next level, it is crucial that you measure and show the results. Progress is one of the most powerful tools to convince others to join you on your quest. It is important to measure and report on your progress so as to gauge if you are still on the right track.

4. Share your Purpose Story

Others with similar ambition will have the same challenges you have. So don’t only share your success story but share also the lessons you have learned. Sharing your stories will also benefit your organisation. By showing the world about the positive things you strive for, you will be in a position to attract new talent as well as boost sales. So it helps to ensure the future of your organisation. Deloitte shares their story via a very inspiring video, check it out.

5. Challenge others

We’re all in this together. If you see opportunities to improve things within the supply chain, or within your environment; speak up and discuss together how you could improve things. There is so much potential! Looking for inspiration? Check out this crowdfunding platform in Afghanistan, where startups try to improve their war torn country on a very local level. If they can do it, so can you.

Have a wonderful 2018!
